When fares are lower
- Avoid the peaks. Prices rise before Navruz, at the end of Ramadan and for Eid al-Adha, in summer and at New Year. If you can, move your trip a week earlier or later.
- Umrah outside the season. Fares to Jeddah and Madinah are especially high during Ramadan and around the Hajj season. In other months the same flights cost noticeably less.
- Compare days of the week. On flights to Moscow and Istanbul the difference between a Tuesday and a Friday can be large. The price calendar shows it at a glance.
Consider other airports in Uzbekistan
Not only Tashkent: Samarkand, Fergana, Namangan, Bukhara and Urgench also have international flights, mainly to Russia and Turkey. If you live outside the capital, a direct flight from your city can save a trip and a night in Tashkent. For example, compare Samarkand – Istanbul and Samarkand – Moscow with departures from Tashkent.
The national carrier and low-cost airlines
Uzbekistan Airways has the most flights. Turkish, Middle Eastern, Russian and Asian airlines, including budget ones, also fly to Tashkent. Low-cost basic fares often exclude a suitcase, so compare prices with baggage; see baggage and carry-on.
