Cheap Flights from Almaty: Routes and Tips

Cheap Flights from Almaty: Routes and Tips

Almaty is Kazakhstan's biggest airport for international flights. From here you can fly to Turkey, the Gulf, Korea, Thailand, Europe and neighbouring Central Asian countries. Prices depend heavily on the season, so it helps to know when and where to look.

Seasons: when it costs more and when less

  • Thailand and Vietnam are in demand in winter, the dry season. Around New Year fares to Phuket and Bangkok rise the most, so search 2–3 months ahead.
  • Turkey and beaches cost more in summer and during school holidays. May, early June and September are often cheaper with good weather.
  • Nauryz, New Year and the May holidays push prices up on almost every route.

To find the cheap days, open the price calendar: it shows the lowest fares found by day and month.

Almaty or Astana

Some flights are cheaper from Astana and vice versa. If both work for you, compare them: for example Astana – Istanbul and Astana – Dubai. A domestic Astana – Almaty flight is often inexpensive, but count the time and the risk of connecting on separate tickets.

Airlines and fares

The main airline is Air Astana, which also runs the low-cost FlyArystan. SCAT and many foreign carriers fly too. Low-cost basic fares usually exclude a suitcase, so compare prices with baggage, as explained in baggage and carry-on.

When the destination does not matter

If you simply want a holiday, start from the budget rather than the city: cheap destinations shows where you can fly for your amount, and the trip planner helps put a route together.

Before you book

Check visa requirements for your passport, entry rules for any transit country and your passport's validity. Save routes to favourites to come back later. mibilet does not sell tickets: we compare offers, and you book on the partner's site.
