Tbilisi International Airport (TBS)

About Tbilisi Airport

Tbilisi International Airport (IATA code TBS) is the main airport of Georgia and serves the capital, Tbilisi. It is located south-east of the city, roughly 17 km from the centre, which makes the transfer relatively short compared with many European capitals.

The airport handles the bulk of Georgia's international passenger traffic and is the natural arrival point for city breaks in Tbilisi as well as trips to Kakheti wine country, Mtskheta and the mountain regions. For travellers from Azerbaijan, Tbilisi is one of the closest foreign capitals, and many combine a short flight with a trip around the South Caucasus.

Getting to the city centre

Common ways to reach central Tbilisi:

• City bus — a public bus route connects the airport with the city centre and is the cheapest option.
• Taxi — official taxis and ride-hailing apps are widely used; agree on the fare or use an app to avoid surprises.
• Hotel transfer — handy for late-night arrivals.

Bus routes and payment rules can change, so check the latest details on the official airport website.

Practical tips

A few simple habits make the airport part of your trip much smoother:

• Use online check-in where available and keep your boarding pass on your phone or printed.
• Confirm the terminal on your ticket shortly before departure, as airlines occasionally change terminals.
• Keep liquids, chargers and documents easy to reach to speed up the security check.
• Many flights to and from Tbilisi depart at night or early in the morning, so arrange your transfer in advance.
